February is the month of LOVE.
I’m a HUGE romantic at heart and have tried very hard to instill the same “romanticism” into my sons. Yes, even at 6, 5, 3 and 2… I try. The beauty of love is that it doesn’t always have to come down to the total-romantic-kind… love is love. And in life, I do love many things.
Since I’ve always believed that Valentine’s Day should be celebrated ALL month long and not just on the 14th… I asked my sons (in their own terms) to tell what it is they “love.” I know that they don’t get girlfriends and dates and marriage and Jane Austen yet… but I thought it would be fun to find out what they love… in February 2011.
Froggy (his Webkinz character)
Mom (I made it!)
Henry (one brother made it!)
Flashlight with the ladybug on it
Plate with his name on it
EMU boots with the Bear Face
Dora (as he points to the TV)
You know, it’s funny. Just taking the 10 minutes to do this with the boys, I will remember these answers forever. They were as real as real can be. No prompting. And we all had fun laughing as each boy named they things that they loved.
Throughout the month of February, take the time to ask your kids what they love. When Benjamin mentioned he loved the snow, it made me realize that they hadn’t been outside to build a snowman yet with all the new fallen snow, it got us moving and outside.
This time in their life is so precious… and time goes by so fast. LOVE the little moments.
My top 5 list?
Matt (their Dad)
